title = "Traumatic Brain Injury",
abstract = "Traumatic brain injury (TBI) results in short and long-term mental health syndromes that can affect patients for years after injury. The mental health disorders associated with moderate to severe brain trauma have been well established, but emerging evidence clearly suggests that even mild injuries can lead to transient and/or permanent disabilities in neuropsychological or psychiatric domains. TBI patients often will exhibit a range of symptoms including, headaches, fatigue, depression, anxious behaviors, and memory impairments and in some cases TBI leads to suicide or increased suicidal ideation. It is important to recognize and treat these mental health issues in TBI patients.",
